Artificial intelligence in health education within higher education institutions

While artificial intelligence (AI) was first developed in the late 1950s1 and saw its first use in healthcare in the 1970s,2 it has only been in the last 3 years that it has been widely accessible and used. Both Sir Keir Starmer and Donald Trump have used the start of 2025 to highlight that AI is part of efforts to boost their respective economies,3 4 which included a focus on the development of AI within healthcare and healthcare delivery.
